Class I and II General Industrial Solid Waste vs Hazardous WasteClass I and Class II general industrial solid waste categories do not determine whether a waste is hazardous. Section 3.1 of GB 18599—2020 concerns industrial solid waste that is not hazardous waste. For waste within that scope, sections 3.6 and 3.7 distinguish the categories using leachate results obtained by the HJ 557 method, relevant GB 8978 concentration limits and the pH range. The categories are not a simple division between harmless and hazardous waste. Names such as waste medicines, batteries or paint containers are insufficient to classify every such item as Class II general industrial solid waste. The production process, composition and applicable current lists and identification requirements need to be checked. This article does not classify any particular waste. Start by organizing raw-material information, process descriptions, waste-generation stages and existing classification evidence. Have the relevant professionals review unresolved questions. A general checklist does not replace identification conclusions or verification of the receiving operator. Content revised: 2026-10-23. Original news-list publication date retained.
